VINTAGE, NORITAKE “SONIA”, BONE CHINA COFFEE POT, DESIGN No.2301,WITH THE MAKERS NAME EMBOSSED ON THE BOTTOM AND IT HAS A TRANSFER PRINTED MAKER’S BACKSTAMP.

I am offering for sale a “Sonia” coffee pot made by Noritake, Japan. It probably dates from 1970s or 1980s. It has a white-glazed body with a raised, enamel, flowered frieze around the top. The end of the spout, the top of knop on the lid, the rim and the edges of the handle are gilt-trimmed. The maker’s name is embossed on the bottom and there is a transfer-printed back-stamp.

The pot is approximately 9½ inches (24 cm) high from the base to the top of the lid and 9½ inches (24 cm) wide, from the tip of the spout to the back of the handle. The base is 3¼ inches (8 cm) in diameter and the top is 4 inches (10 cm) in diameter.

The pot is in a very good used condition, with no chips cracks or crazing. For accuracy, and although virtually impossible to see, if one runs their finger over the inside of the lid on the tine knop that secures the lid to the underside of the internal rim of the pot, one can feel a pin prick chip.
