Tibetan Bhuddist Prayer Wheel.
Definitely old, not a modern copy. Contains a handmade paper prayer. Sadly the ink has faded although a tiny portion can still be seen, a few faint letters. Techniques exist to bring back faded ink, but not in my living room.
Comes apart into upper, lower and handle. All parts a very surprising good fir to each other.
Decoration very firmly attached. I think the “beads” are some kind of ceramic but not sure.
On closer examination the metal seems to be copper, plausible given point of origin.
I can’t say for certain on ceramics or not, or, copper or not. I’m a theologian, thus I know very little of verifiable use on anything! You judge.
I rescued this from an auctioneer 30 years ago. It had failed to sell and he was about to throw it in a black bin bag destined for the skip. I intervened and explained the perilous position on his eternal soul and how I could assist. I gave him some notes and he promised to go to church on Sunday. I believed him and left with my prayer wheel.
Or something.
It will be soundly packed and padded.
Apologies for p&p price, other than 35p for packing this is the Royal Mail cost. It gives you tracking, signed for and full insurance. Given delivery services generally at the moment it’s the only sensible option for a decent item of any value more than twenty pounds. If you’d like a cheaper service, message me before paying and I can do it but it is then sent at your risk since it wouldn’t be fully insured
