PRE-COLUMBIAN POLYCHROME FIGURE COSTA RICA Guanacaste, Nicoya Region 800-1200 AC Pre-Columbian Polychrome figure from Costa Rica, Most Likely from Guanacaste, Nicoya Region,  800-1200 AC. This is a female effigy figure made with a hollow-cast polychrome style, seated atop delineated conical legs and a flat base. Her rotund torso and perky breasts denote her feminine nature when combined with her slightly forward-leaning posture, and curved arms rest gently on her ample hips.  She is a natural terracotta color with additional dark brown paint, delineating her facial features and her groin, as well as decorative body paint on her torso, back, and arms. It has a hole in the back where you can see it is hollow.Measurements: 8 x 6 1/2 x 4 1/2Weight: 1 lb 12 ouncesProvenance: Purchased from an  East Coast Auction house with several other Pre-Columbian pieces, mainly from Costa Rica, and some Central American pieces.Price: $415.00
