The dog is chasing its own tail and has a sculpted phallus on the underside. This piece is very similar in symbology to more famous occult symbols, such as the Ouroboros. There are white surface deposits all over the sculpture that have never been cleaned while in my possession.

Mexican Colima Tail Chasing Dog Pottery Central American Ouroboros Occult.

There are white surface deposits all over the sculpture that have never been cleaned while in my possession. The entire sculpture is decorated in black speckles over a natural clay finish. The broken tail tip seems to be the only notable imperfection, however, the break must have been from quite a while back, considering the weathering at the break point. (Almost smooth)

The dog is chasing its own tail and has a sculpted phallus on the underside. This piece is very similar in symbology to more famous occult symbols, such as the Ouroboros. It is a vessel representing both life and death, using the imagery of one of the most sacred mammals in ancient Mesoamerica, the Colima dog.
