This is such a smart antique press wardrobe. It is late Georgian in the Hepplewhite style with inlaid flame mahogany ovals inset in to the doors. It is a Gentleman's wardobe dating to around 1835.
The wardrobe is made in mahogany and is break front with the central section coming forward.
The wardrobe has a cornice above and sits on a plinth base.
Just look at the quality of that central section! It has a graduated suite of drawers and above a cupboard with large sliding shelves to hold bulkier items like bedding.
The wardrobe has two hanging sections either side with a shoe locker at the base of one.
This is a top quality wardrobe. The inlaid ovals and polished mahogany and wonderful suite of drawers and slides pick it out as being a cut above the wardrobes of the period. This wardrobe was intended for a gentleman's residence. And the elegant simplicity of the design and the rich polished mahogany gives it a cultured manly presence.
The wardrobe is in good antique condition. Tbe mahogany glows. Minor bowing to the central oval panels but the frame is true and the doors shut as they should. Minor bruise to one edge by hinge....see photo. The foot locker would originally have had a drop in foot panel in front.
This is a beautiful wardrobe. It is 81 inches high and 23 inches deep and 91 inches wide. It splits for moving.it will hold a lot of clothes
