Early 12" Arched Brass Dial 8-day Longcase Grandfather Clock Movement, c1740 Early arched brass dial 8-day longcase clock movement by John Branden, St Ives, dating from c1740, offered for restoration.Attractive 12" (418x308mm) arched dial with ringed winding holes, engraved dial centre and original steel hands (seconds hand missing).8-day 5 ringed pillar movement with internal count wheel striking is original to the dial.The movement appears very original, with short pinions and nicely shaped wheel collets to the wheelwork, original pallets and steelwork etc.Movement is complete including the date work but would benefit from overhaul/ restoration, so sold for restoration.An almost identical dial and movement by the same maker is discussed in this thread: https://mb.nawcc.org/threads/1752-grandfather-clock.159015/#post-1267703Contrary to what is implied in this thread I’m not sure if it is St. Ives in Cornwall or Cambridgeshire.
