DESCRIPTION:
This truly is a stunning Victorian Walnut Bracket clock. The case incorporates some incredible ormolu detailing and is finished off with lovely brass finials. This is a superb clock which is of lovely grand proportions. A lovely feature is that the movement is lovely being quarter striking with a 'ting tang' strike. If you are looking for an exquisite clock, this one will surly fit the bill. Please note the wine bottle is to show the proportions of the clock only and is not part of the sale.
The arched door opens to access the dial which is in perfect condition. The dial is a work of art in it's own right. The dial is brass and has a separate chapter ring which is beautifully etched with Roman Numerals with small Arabic numerals above, between the numerals is further beautifully etched. To the four corners and to the arch is adorned with lovely detailed spandrels and it is finished with a super pair of shaped fingers. To the arch is another dial to regulate the clock namely the 'FAST/SLOW'. The arched glass over the door is nicely bevelled.
The door is flanked by lovely ormolu detailing with a maidens head, again the attention to detail is outstanding. The clock is finished with three wonderful flame finials and a lovely floral ormolu detailing. The clock is raised on pretty decorative lions feet.
There is a lovely brass fretted door to the rear lined in fabric, the door is opened by a catch.
The case is in lovely condition, and has a lovely rich patina and is a lovely rich colour. It is very difficult to convey through photographs the level of fantastic workmanship which has gone into this clock. But as you will note from the photographs there are fine detailing which set the clock of wonderfully.
The clock has recently been serviced and as such is happily ticking away and keeping good time. The clock chimes one 'ting tang' on the quarter past, two 'ting tangs' on the half past and three 'ting tangs' on the quarter to. Finally it then strikes the hours on the hour.
The movement is access via a door to the rear this has a lovely fretted panel which is lined in fabric. The movement is stamped with with the trademark for R M Schnekenburger which is a rose with the letters 'RSM' below. In addition this clock comes complete with it's winding key and pendulum.
DIMENSIONS
The approximate dimensions are:
11 1/4 inches / 28.5 cm wide across feet x 7 1/4 inches / 18.5 cm deep across feet x 18 inches / 45.5 cm high.
AGE:
The R M Schnekenburger trademark was used between 1882 and 1900 and as such dates the clock to this period.
CONDITION:
The case is in superb condition as can be seen from the photographs just minor marks commensurate with age. The clock has recently been serviced so the movement is happily ticking and striking away and keeping good time. Please study photographs carefully as they form part of the description and condition, as what you view is exactly what you will receive.
