DESCRIPTION:This is a very impressive and superb quality Victorian Mahogany bracket clock which is beautifully inlaid and of large grand proportions. Please not the wine bottle is just to show the grand proportions of the clock and is not part of the sale. The clock has a superb double fusee movement which strikes on a gong on the hours and at half past. The clock is exceptionally detailed and is of stunning grand proportions. It has recently been cleaned and serviced and as such is in perfect working order.
It has a mahogany arch top case, and has a traditional inlaid front panel with lovely satinwood having been used for the inlays. It is raised on brass ball feet. Over the dial is a thick convex glass surrounded in a brass bezel. The dial is silvered and is set out with Roman numerals with a super pair of shaped fingers.
The 8 day movement has substantial plates and is twin chain driven fusee and strikes the hours and halves on a gong.
To the rear is the door which has a lovely fretted panel lined in blue fabric.
The movement is beautifully clean having just been cleaned and serviced and is in perfect working order and happily striking on a gong with a lovely mellow sound. The movement is complete with it's substantial pendulum which is held in place with a travel nut when you wish to move the clock. The clock is also complete with its winding key.
DIMENSIONS: The approximate maximum dimensions are:- 11 1/4 inches (28.5 cm) wide- 6 1/2 inches (16.5 cm) deep- 16 1/2 inches (42 cm) high
AGE: The clock is early circa 1900.
CONDITION: The case is in lovely condition as can be seen from the photographs. The silvered dial is in nice condition just odd marks commensurate with age. The movement is beautifully clean having just been cleaned and serviced and is in perfect working order and happily ticking and striking.
