Antique French Bracket Clock
Quality design in a Classic Mahogany wooden casing.
A superb example of a classic French Bracket Clock with German “Philip Haas and Sohn” Mechanism. The fine mahogany case has brass inlay to the front, a rear opening door with silk covered fretwork, and is topped off with a solid brass carrying handle
The 8-day movement has Westminster bar chimes and hourly strike. This lovely example dating from circa 1874 was manufactured specifically for the UK market.
Measurements : - Height 32cm Width 24cm Depth 16cm.
The clock is in lovely condition. It is in full working order and keeps good time. It has a hinged bevelled Glass Front, and silver coloured metal face with impressed black Roman Numerals. The wooden case is in excellent condition. It has only one small mark - (not very noticeable, but highlighted in last pic), and even the rear door is still securely attached to the case.
Both the movement and the striker unit have the PHS logo on them. The number 157 is also impressed on the back plate of the clock movement.
There is a Makers paper sticker on the bottom of the case stating: Made in Baden. No. 18124".
The clock is running, striking and chiming as it should.
This clock was bought by my Father from Anna Harrrison Antiques in Newcastle upon Tyne about 40 years ago. Inside the clock is a Compliment Slip from Harrison’s - from the time of the purchase - stating: Mahogany Bracket Clock by Philip Hass and Sohns 1876” Patent on Movement.
