Antique French double bed frame in the 'La Rocaille' style of Louis XV, first fashionable in the mid 1700's. Carved in a lovely floral and acanthus leaf design associated with that era. The cabriole legs finish in tiny castors.The actual date of manufacture is unknown.This is an antique piece, showing signs of age, including verticle lines where the panels join. This doesn't detract from the beauty of the bed, which has been painted in a vintage off-white / cream, then distressed and waxed with darker wax to add depth and variation in tone, enhancing it's faded grandeur. The bed was already painted like this when we bought it 18 years ago.
