Very rare and wonderful piece, an Aesthetic Movement oak coat stand, probably Victorian 1880 to 1900. I dont know where to start, it has so many design quirks. Three splayed legs coming from the tripod frame with a round base incorporating a brass drip tray. The frame tapers up to the top with a brass ring mid way for sticks and umbrella support, then a solid wood round spool with finials top and bottom with 3 brass hooks for coats then at the top another large turned wood finial and circular mount with 5 brass hooks. Midway are 3 brass joining plates with screws which I think means it divides into two if required but I'm not going to try. It stands approx 80 inches tall and is 25 inches at its widest across the base. In pretty good condition, two brass hooks have damage with loops missing but still usable. General wear and patina, slight movement from the joining plates. Presents pretty well. An absolute gem, one sold on a website for £ 570, good luck.
