The item offered for sale is a
MAYA DECORATED SPINDLE WHORL BEAD FROM CHIAPAS MEXICO 300 B.C. - A.D. 250
Originally excavated in the early 1970's by museum owner and curator Dave Wilson in Chiapas Mexico Zona Arqueológica Palenque area. This is a very rare early example of a decorated Maya spindle whorl. The design of the sun god on the Maya stepped pyramid. It is black/pink in colour (darker than photograph). Ancient beads / whorls are a fantastic way of collecting small Ancient Art without the size.
It was hand manufactured probably with a mould, from Terracotta/Clay then fired.
Size 23 mm in diameter and 19 mm high approximately.
In fine solid condition, no repair or restoration.
I have a "small" excavated number available (all slightly different), if you require one for your collect I recommend you get one, once there gone that's it.
Part of David Wilson collection hand excavated early 1970's.
A beautiful rare Spindle Whorl that displays wonderfully and whoever buys this will be extremely satisfied to own such a rare unusual Ancient item.
